On the evening of October 1st, Huaqiao University (HQU) held a grand live broadcast on the theme of “Fighting the Virus, Fulfilling Shared Dream” celebrating the 72ndAnniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event was organized by the Department of Student Affairs and undertaken by the Students’ Union, Graduate Union, Students’ Association Union, Art Troupe and E-class. More than 200 domestic and foreign teachers and students presented wonderful performances, while over 9,600 domestic and foreign teachers and students watched the live broadcast and interacted online and offline. HQU’s teachers and students celebrated the National Day on campus while adhering to the epidemic prevention and control regulations of “Not going out if unnecessary”.
The live broadcast began with the sign-language performanceThe Nation, showing the scene of HQU’s faculties and students fighting the epidemic and overcoming difficulties together, and expressing their best wishes for the great motherland’s birthday. Live broadcast also added three rounds of spot connection, HQUers at home had online interaction with students from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Overseas students shared the anniversary celebration in overseas Chinese communities and their residences, gave their blessings to National Day of PRC in their local languages or dialects, and hoped to return to school as soon as possible. The live broadcast also presented the festive mood in two campuses by showing how students were celebrating the festival in their dormitories, music rooms, dance studios, outdoor squares, etc. Three rounds of lottery climaxed the event.
This event aims to further enrich students’ cultural life during closed-off campus management by providing online and offline communication platforms, to further intensify the education of the national spirit with patriotism at its core and the spirit of the times with reform and innovation at its core, and to further stimulate their love for the motherland and their pride of being a Chinese in the celebration of a special and meaningful festival.
