In order to quickly and efficiently address the latest Covid-19 outbreak, Xiamen has launched all-inclusive nucleic acid testing, generating an urgent, huge demand for medical and nursing staff. Twenty-nine clinical medicine majors of Grade 2017 from the School of Medicine of Huaqiao University (HQU), who are currently interning in Xiamen Chang Gung Hospital, affiliated to HQU, volunteered to participate in the work of nucleic acid testing, which gained the support of related departments.
According to Nie Yuanyuan, one of the intern students, Chang Gung instantly began to recruit volunteers in the early morning of September 15. On the same day, medical staff and interns who were about to take part in the testing work were trained on putting on and taking off protective clothing as well as conducting nucleic acid testing. They were hurried to the work sites in the evening.

That night, three HQU students, Nie Yuanyuan, Lei Chenyu and Li Yaodong, were dispatched to help with the nucleic acid testing in Haicang District. They completed their tasks against all odds
