Huaqiao University (HQU) Base of Government-Industry-University -Research Collaboration in Jimei District (hereafter as “The Base”) was inaugurated on July 12^th. Located in Vanke Cloud City, Jimei, the Base was jointly established by HQU and People’s Government of Jimei District, Xiamen.

Wang Lixia, Vice President of HQU, Hu Xubin, Chief of Jimei District, and Gao Jun, Chief Partner of Vanke Southern Regional Business Group attended the opening ceremony and delivered their speeches respectively. The signing ceremony for cooperation agreements between six research teams in the base and enterprises representatives was held.

In a bid to facilitate economic and social development of Xiamen and accelerate the new models of cooperation among local government, industries, universities, research institutes as well as financial services through existing mechanisms, the mission of the base is to break technological logjams that held up the development of the enterprises; give full play to HQU advantages in talents and scientific research platforms; mobilize resources to set up several new forms of R&D institutes; expedite the transformation of research results from prototypes to commercial products;make better use of science and technology in promoting local specialty industries; keep an eye on thelayout of major and emerging industries of Jimei and Double Hundred Billion Plan of Xiamen (industrial chain and investment plan);achieve breakthroughs in key generic R&D technologies, andwork to build itself into a highland of university-industry-collaboration.

The matchmaking event for promoting HQU transformation of scientific achievements held on the same day allowed 3 research teams to introduce their latest findings and achievements and representatives from 3 enterprises to share their experiences in enhancing the cooperation among industry, education and research sectors.
