With the theme of “For the People’s Wellbeing: The Responsibilities of Political Parties”, The Communist Party of China (CPC) and World Political Parties Summit was held via video link on July 6th. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of China Central Committee and Chinese President, attended the summit and delivered a keynote speech in Beijing. More than 500 leaders of political parties and political organizations from over 160 countries, as well as over 10,000 representatives from political parties and all walks of life, attended the summit too. Political parties from more than 100 countries have set up nearly 200 venues in their countries for their representatives to attend the summait.
Several Huaqiao University students and alumni also attended the summit at their countries’ venues, including three post-graduate students from the Malaysian “Regional and International Issues” class of Huaqiao University’s College of International Relations: Ling Tian Soon, also National Organizing Secretary of the Malaysian Chinese Association, Wu Yisheng, Vice President of the Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, and Zhao Meiyi, Financial Director of the Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, as well as Zhang Bowen, alumnus of the 2nd and 13th Foreign Government Official’s Chinese Class and member of Education Committee of Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, and Chen Guanghui, alumnus of the 13th Foreign Government Official’s Chinese Class and civil servant of the Prime Minister's Office of Laos. .
