Following the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Admissions Office of Huaqiao University (HQU), together with HQU Board of Directors in Hong Kong, launched 2021 Hong Kong Recommended Students Online Interview in Shi Liangqiao Technology Experiment Building from the afternoon of December 26 to the morning of December 27. The interview is to address Hong Kong students’ demands for higher education, and in the meantime, to ensure the quantity and quality of its enrollment of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and other international students. A total of 370 students participated in the interview of the principal recommendation scheme provided by the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools, and 40 students participated in the interview of the principal recommendation scheme jointly provided by Huaqiao University(HQU) and Jinan University (JNU).
Hong Kong students may enroll in HQU through two schemes, the principal recommendation scheme jointly provided by HQU and JNU and the principal recommendation scheme provided by the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools. These two schemes are designed for graduating students of local secondary schools in Hong Kong. Students must provide a special recommendation letter from their school principal to get an admission interview and examination from HQU. This is an important way for HQU to recruit students from Hong Kong. This year, the students recommended by principals come from 77 local secondary schools in Hong Kong, an increase of 4 over 2019. The number of Hong Kong students regarding HQU as their first choice is 410, an increase of 71, or 21%, over 2019.
