The 45th International College Students Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Regional Contest announced its results on December 23. “Rising Sun”, a team composed of 3 Huaqiao University (HQU) students, Zhao Yuyang from College of Computer Science and Technology, Xu Cong from College of Information Science and Engineering, and Zheng Liang from School of Mathematical Sciences, and supervised by Luo Wei, solved a total of nine problems and won the gold medal, ranking 13th out of 632 eligible teams.
ICPC is the largest, most prestigious and most influential international algorithmic programming contest that attracts the largest number of college students in the world. It provides opportunities for college students to demonstrate their innovation, team spirit and problem-solving abilities. It has won the attention from world-renowned universities since 1970, as all previous 44 editions have brought together elites from all continents in the world, gathering budding stars in the computer industry. The contest has attracted many computer giants, such as Microsoft, IBM, Google, Huawei, Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba and other companies as well. The awards issued by ICPC are highly recognized by well-known computer companies and universities in the world. 35 gold medals, 70 silver medals and 105 bronze medals were awarded in the present competition.
