On December 5, a field trip in Xiamen was jointly held by Xiamen Overseas Friendship Association (XOFA) and Huaqiao University (HQU). Forty Hong Kong and Macao freshmen from Huaqiao University (HQU), Jimei University (JMU) and Xiamen University (XMU) participated in the activity.

The delegation first came to Xiamen Sanan Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. to visit the company’s exhibition hall, learn about the company’s development history and experience VR and other new technologies.

They then visited the 13th Cross-strait Cultural Industries Fair being held at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. Led by the commentator, the members of the delegation visited several thematic exhibition areas in four major professional sections, including culture and tourism, digital entertainment, creative design and artistic handicrafts.

At the last stop, the delegation came to Gulangyu Island, a site renowned for its profound cultural connotation, and visited the World’s Architecture Museum, Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall and Hi!Heaven!

This activity aims to lead Hong Kong and Macao freshmen to understand the development of Xiamen as well as its high-quality attractions since the Reform and Opening-up in 1978. It also intends to help these students who study in Xiamen to become more familiar with Xiamen’s economic and social situation, better integrate into Xiamen’s urban life, and further enhance their patriotic spirit and national consciousness.
