On the afternoon of July 9th, Wu Jianping, President of Huaqiao University (HQU) made an inspection tour in HQU's Chinese Language and Culture College (CLCC). He visited Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Library, Fuga China Hall and Preparatory Education College (Preparation) (PECP) to learn about CLCC characteristics and to communicate with international students.
At Sirindhorn Library, Wu gained a detailed knowledge about the longstanding friendship between Thai Princess Sirindhorn and HQU and commended CLCC for the commitment to Sino-foreign cultural exchanges and cooperation. At Fuga China Hall, international students introduced with cordiality the practice and vision of Chinese Spark, a program on the overseas communication of Chinese culture. Wu also attended a Chinese language class at PECP, interacting with international students who were taking the course in-person or online, and giving them thumbs-up for what they have gained.
Leaders of CLCC reported at the symposium the work of the college, based on HQU's development strategy, in the aspects of direction of school running, number and structure of students, development of key disciplines, education at home and abroad, practice of overseas communication and management of international students, as well as the defects in the construction of disciplines and introduction of teachers. They also talked about the implementation of HQU Special Action Plan. During the COVID-19 pandemic they launched Cloud Classroom in the first place to help overseas Chinese schools and institutions with their work in Chinese teaching.
Wu said, he who makes no investigation and study has no right to speak. Through the field visit of CLCC campus and discussion with international students, he gained a full understanding of the engagement of CLCC in the education of Chinese language and culture, and congratulated CLCC on the results they have achieved.
Wu pointed out that the education of Chinese language and culture plays a vital role in the promotion of Chinese culture and the understanding of China. He hoped that CLCC would continue to expand the recruitment to more countries and regions, and bring in more students to China and to HQU as more graduates devoted to spreading Chinese culture in their host countries.
Leaders from President's Office, the whole CLCC leadership team and leaders concerned from PECP also joined the inspection tour.
