28th Shang & Ding Chinese Culture Festival Launched Online

The 28th Shang & Ding Chinese Culture Festival, hosted by Publicity Office of the CPC Huaqiao University (HQU) Committee, Students Affairs Department, College of Humanities and Shang & Ding Chinese Culture Education Base and organized by Youth League and Students Union of College of Humanities, was officially launched online on the afternoon of May 9th, with an audience of more than 200 faculty and students watching online opening ceremony.

 

This Festival is themed with Chinese calligraphy and traditional Chinese opera, aiming to inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture, promote the national spirit with patriotism as the core, and strengthen national self-confidence and cohesion.

 

Different from that in the previous years, the 28th Festival includes a total of four parallel sessions located in Southeast, Northeast, Southwest and Northwest respectively. With the help of live streaming and connection, Qingyang Sachet, Shui nationality Paper-Cut and other local cultural treasures were able to be displayed on the screen. The vivid commentary from the student journalists brought the intangible cultural heritage closer to the audience.

 

From every corner of China, students of College of Humanities offered an online cooperated declaim named We Share the Very Moment to pay tribute to the China's heroes who fought hard on the front line of anti-epidemic and highly praised those students of College of Humanities who devoted themselves during the COVID-19. Dialect congratulations and traditional knowledge Q&A were set to increase interactivity and fun of the online opening ceremony.

 

Professor Wang Jianshe from College of Humanities delivered a speech themed Maritime Silk Road Culture Trip to Quanzhou after the opening ceremony.

 

A series of activities, such as Chinese Character Culture Contest, Original Literature Competition and Zaitun Reading Seminar, will be held online, focusing on loving our country, our school and our family.
