Due to COVID-19, schools in many countries closed, and overseas Chinese language schools, which are mainly weekend based teaching, are seriously affected. To this end, Chinese Language and Culture College and the Academy of Chinese Language and Culture Education of Huaqiao University (HQU), urgently set up a Chinese language volunteer teaching service group. On March 23, they jointly opened the "Confucius Cloud Classroom" with the Confucius Cultural School in Barcelona, Spain, to timely provide high-quality online Chinese language teaching for more than 3,000 European Chinese staying at home.

Since the latter half of March, over 10 HQU volunteer teachers, led by Hu Jiangang, Deputy Dean of Academy of Chinese Language and Culture Education, has offered one hundred live online Chinese language courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays respectively, which covers 11 grades from kindergarten to senior high school. More than 3,000 students from Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, etc., participated for free. Some of the volunteers can receive more than 20,000 "likes" from the students. It has been widely reported by xuexi.cn, the European Times, the Overseas Edition of People's Daily, the China News Service and other domestic and overseas media.
