The list of excellent traditional Chinese cultural heritage base of Fujian colleges and universities has been released recently. Lion Dance (Southern Lion Dance) and Dragon Dance of Huaqiao University (HQU) have been recognized by the Education Department of Fujian Province and included in the list. Previously, HQU has already established three provincial education demonstration bases of excellent traditional Chinese culture.

In 2019, the Education Department of Fujian Province launched the construction and application of the base for inheriting excellent traditional Chinese culture in colleges and universities across the province, aiming to promote colleges and universities to establish a batch of heritage bases for traditional cultural projects such as national folk music, national folk arts, national folk dances, dramas, operas, traditional handicrafts and national traditional sports, so as to explore and construct a development system for excellent traditional Chinese culture with college characteristics. 

The Education Working Committee of Fujian Provincial Party Committee has launched the application and construction of the education demonstration bases of excellent traditional Chinese culture in colleges and universities since 2016. Three education demonstration bases of HQU have already been selected and added to the list in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively. They are: Excellent Traditional Culture of Overseas Chinese Hometown Education Demonstration Base (Department of Student Affairs), "Shangding Culture & Traditional Chinese Culture Inheritance and Transmission" Education Demonstration Base (College of Humanities) and "Chinese Spark" Chinese Culture Overseas Communication Education Demonstration Base (Chinese Language and Culture College).
