The 12^th Cross-Strait (Xiamen) Cultural Industries Fair took place in Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center from November 1^st to 4^th. Organized by Institute of Engineering Technology (Xiamen) of Huaqiao University (HQU), teachers and students from HQU’s School of Architecture, School of Arts, College of Mechanical and Engineering Automation, and Institute of Industrial Design brought 120 cultural and creative products and architectural design projects to the Fair.

With "to carry forward the protection of cultural heritage and cultivate an innovation mindset in technology" as the theme and "to inherit Chinese culture" as the main focus, HQU showcased in-depth the projects in fields such as industrial design, visual transmission, and cultural & creative products. There are the application of UAV aerial survey, 3D modeling and restoration technique in Xiamen Gulangyu Island by Laboratory of GIS and Spatial Information Collection from School of Architecture, as well as Community-Building from "Nurturing Plan" initiated by teachers from Contemporary Art Research Center of School of Arts, which promoted "art changes countryside".

In the 9^th Fujian Province Universities Art Design Award, one of the events of the Fair, the work from School of Arts, "U-BIKE Modularized Wooden Balance Bike for Kids" (inventor: Liang Bo; instructor: He Maohong, Xiong Wei) won silver award in product design. "Intertwining Set: Double Power Strip" by College of Mechanical and Engineering Automation (inventor: Chen Shuangjie; instructor: Ouyang Fenfang) and "All-in-one Meal Box Based on Environmental Consciousness" (inventor: Lan Suihong；instructor: Li Yan) also by College of Mechanical and Engineering Automation were conferred with bronze awards in product design. "Little Min (another name for Fujian Province) Tiger—IP Image Design" by School of Arts (inventor: Qi Zheng, Guo Meiling; instructor: Wu Yan, Ren Lei) won bronze award in the filed of visual transmission. HQU received outstanding organization award.

The design of HQU exhibition booth was in accordance with the theme of the Fair. The shaping of the booth drew inspiration from the gate of HQU. With a "bridge" ("qiao" in Chinese pinyin) as a metaphor of "overseas Chinese" (also "qiao" in Chinese pinyin), it combined traditional culture and school feature, fully demonstrating the development strategy and characteristics of HQU, which is to develop itself into an elite university with overseas Chinese education, and the school principle, which is to "serve overseas Chinese and promote Chinese culture". The upper part of the booth was connected by a "fluttering ribbon" that symbolized HQU students at home and abroad were connected with each other, representing the school policy of "serving students from abroad, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan", and the school philosophy of "Integration of Chinese Wisdom and Foreign Expertise, Unification of Moral Character and Professional Excellence".
