On the afternoon of June 27th, 2019, the 8th Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar, co-hosted by Huaqiao University (HQU), the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, came to an end. Zeng Lu, Vice-President of HQU, Sompratana Suktawee, Deputy Executive Director of NRCT, and Surasit Thanadtang, Director of Thai–Chinese Strategic Research Center (TSRC) of NRCT attended and addressed the closing ceremony.
At the closing ceremony, Lin Hongyu, Dean of the College of International Relations of HQU, and Surasit Thanadtang signed a joint research agreement, which was one of the key achievements of the seminar. This agreement aims to further deepen the all-round cooperation between two sides through organizing joint working groups, carrying out joint research projects and holding regular academic visits and conferences.
Zhang Xizhen, Yang Baoyun, Duan Lisheng, Zhu Zhenming, Surachai Sirikrai and Liu Lifang presented summary reports of six panel discussions at the closing ceremony.
This seminar, themed "Chinese-Thai Strategic Cooperation for a New Era: New Opportunity and New Vision", attracted delegates from over thirty research institutes and government departments, including Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, the National Defense Study Institute, the National Institute of Development Administration, and Peking University, China Foreign Affairs University and Huaqiao University. Specialists and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on a number of topics including China-Thailand economy, society, culture, scientific and technological cooperation, strategic docking, and overseas Chinese in Thailand, providing valuable proposals and suggestions for China-Thailand Cooperation in a new era. It was agreed that the 9th Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar will be held in Thailand.
