Under the Volunteer Chinese Teachers Program of the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), 78 Huaqiao University students were selected and enrolled as volunteer Chinese teachers in 2019. They are being sent to 24 countries, including Australia, Belarus, Finland, South Korea, Malaysia, Slovakia, Peru, Thailand, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Cambodia, Mongolia, Morocco, South Africa, Ukraine and Indonesia. Both the number of volunteer teachers and destination countries have reached a record high.

On June 7^th, 2019, a farewell meeting for the 2019 volunteer Chinese teachers was held in Wang-Yuan-Xing International Conference Center (WICC) on Xiamen Campus. Some representatives of the volunteer teachers attended the event.

Ever since 2006, HQU has sent 617 graduates and postgraduates from 16 colleges on volunteer trips to teach Chinese in 40 countries, greatly promoting the Chinese language international education.
