On May 14th, 35 students from the Department of Construction Management of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) attended the 2019 Overseas Chinese Students - Huaqiao University (HQU) Camp.
They will take part in a 13-day study, including the Belt and Road (B&R) Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Villages Revitalization (Jinjiang) Work Camp, which is attended by 9 universities across the Taiwan Strait, lectures on B&R related architectural and cultural topics, and visits to Quanzhou City, the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, and the world heritage sites Kulangsu Island of Xiamen, and earth buildings in Nanjing, Fujian Province. They will also participate in the entrepreneur salon, observe and learn from the experience of architecture students committed to rural revitalization and professional social services and activities.
The Camp has been held for the second year. Hosted by the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China and sponsored by the School of Architecture of HQU and the Department of Construction Management of UTAR, the camp aims to promote the cultural identity and friendship of youngsters of Chinese descent, be they from their ancestral country or from other countries and regions, by offering them an opportunity to discuss and appreciate the architectural culture together.
