HQU Young Scholars Forum 2018 was held at Huaqiao University from April 17th to 18th 2018. The forum was open to global scholars and nearly 40 excellent young scholars from renowned universities and institutions at home and abroad were finally selected from over 600 applicants. All of these 40 young scholars, mostly post doctorates, have overseas working and learning experience in countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, etc. Their study interests vary in nearly 30 disciplines such as Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business Administration and Material Sciences.

     These young scholars conducted academic exchanges focused on international frontiers of science, hot spot researches and industrial techniques. They also participated in colloquiums organized by relevant colleges, talents matchmaking fairs, laboratory tours and an on-site visit to Xiamen Campus and Jimei New Town.

     "HQU is officially listed in the construction plan of first-class universities and first-class disciplines of Fujian Province this year. The university is at a crucial juncture when we are in urgent need of high level talents, especially young talents." President Xu Xipeng extended invitation to these scholars during the opening ceremony on the 17th. "I sincerely hope you will join us. Also I believe you will enjoy healthy bodies, excellent researches and outstanding careers in HQU."

     "Recent years have witnessed advancement of higher institutions with a closer gap between domestic and international universities in terms of academic atmosphere, payment systems or living standards." Wu Yueqin, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Queensland University of Australia, was impressed by the sincerity of HQU, "What attracts me a lot is its Institution of Manufacturing Engineering, currently taking a leading position in China especially with its formidable strength of research staff."

      Over the years HQU has implemented a series of talent introduction and development programs including the Plan of Recruiting 100 Doctors a Year, High Level Talents Action Plan and Opinions on Strengthening the Cultivation of Young Teachers. Also it has taken supportive measures such as the Plan on Enhancing Scientific Innovation Capability, the Plan of Development on Philosophy and Social Science and Incentives for High-end Achievement, with a view to providing policy and material guarantees for the young scholars.
