Huaqiao University has won 142 awards in science and technology, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Outstanding Award for Scientific Research in Institutions of High Education (Science and Technology) and the Science and Technology Award of Fujian Province, among them, one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2013 and another the same prize in 2017 with Huaqiao University as the first participating unit. The influence of its high-level papers has been continuously increasing, with 2,122 SCI and 2,406 EI papers. According to the statistics released by Clarivate Analytics in January 2018, ESI (Essential Science Indicators) has identified three disciplines of the university, ie., Engineering, Materials Science and Chemistry, as the world’s top 1%. Prof. Wu Jihuai has been listed as a Most Cited Chinese Researcher in Materials Science by Elsevier China for four consecutive years. Prof. Zhou Shufeng was identified as a Highly Cited Researcher in Pharmacology and Toxicology by Clarivate Analytics. The university has always attached importance to and actively promoted the protection of intellectual property. In recent years, the number of patent applications has greatly increased, with a total of 2,297 patent applications and 1,285 patent authorizations.
