“Gen Z's Voice” International Short Video Competition for International Students in China Concludes at HQU

On December 26, the “Gen Z's Voice” International Short Video Competition for International Students in China concluded at Huaqiao University (HQU). Under the guidance of the International Communication Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Information Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, the competition was organized by the Fujian International Communication Center, HQU, Jimei District Publicity Department, Xiamen Women’s Federation, and the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhangzhou Municipal People’s Government.


Xu Xipeng, HQU Party Committee Secretary, Wang Xiuyong, HQU Vice President, Zhuang Zhihui, Standing Committee Member of Jimei District Committee of the CPC and Director of Jimei District Publicity Department, Ke Yida, Director of the Information Office of the Publicity Department of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Deputy Director of the Information Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, Xie Bifen, Party Member of Xiamen Women’s Federation and Vice President of the Federation, Jiang Fei, Dean of the School of International Journalism and Communication at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Zheng Jinlong, Director of Fujian-Taiwan Cultural Exchange Center, Wang Mengli, General Manager of Chinese Goods Centre Ltd., and heads of China Center for International Communication Development of CICG, CRI Online, People’s Daily, China Youth Daily, Global Times, Fujian Radio & Television Network, School of Journalism & Communication of Jinan University, and Xiamen No.6 High School Boya Choir attended the award ceremony.

Online International Communication Base Launched


At the award ceremony, HQU Chinese Language and Culture College and CRI Online signed an agreement on the establishment of the Online International Communication Base. Jiang Lili, deputy editor-in-chief of CRI Online, stressed that the base is expected to promote resource sharing between the media and universities, explore the cultivation of international communication talents, and deepen cooperation in the innovation and practice of international communication.


The “Generation Z Witnesses, Creators, and Communicators” Colorful China’s Stories Seminar was also held. Abdelaziz Ahmed, a CCTV host from Egypt, Antonio Zhou Montano, an international student of Jinan University from Mexico, Vilkov Arsenil, an international student of Northeast Forestry University from Russia, Pascoal Manuel Calinga, a host of HQU new media studio from Angola, and Kevin Junior, an international student of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics from Indonesia shared what they saw, heard and felt in China.

Since its inception, a total of 1079 students from 61 institutions of 56 countries actively participated in the event. After three rounds of anonymous review, 24 works stood out, including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 6 third prizes, 7 awards for outstanding works, and 5 special unit awards.
