On September 6^th, Huaqiao University (HQU) welcomed members of the 15^th Foreign Government Officials' Chinese Class: 109 government officials from 7 countries, namely Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia and Sultanate of Oman, working in National Police Administration, Ministry of National Defense, Prime Minister’s Office, Immigration Office and other government departments.

As a brand project to learn culture and promote communication and understanding among the people, the Foreign Government Officials' Chinese Class of HQU has been held for 15 consecutive years since its inception in 2005, cultivating over 900 outstanding personnels in Chinese language for ten countries, including Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, UAE, Suriname and Angola. With the growing global influence of this project, an increasing number of countries participate in it. Among them are Saudi Arabia and Sultanate of Oman to send officials to study at HQU for the first time.

The opening ceremony was held at Wang Yuanxing International Conference Center on Xiamen campus. Maitree Temsiriphong, Vice-President of Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, Komsan Saiyasane, Director of the Party and Personnel Department of Laos Prime Minister’s Office, Karntimon Ruksakiati, Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen, Reigfred Albello, Culture Officer of the Consulate General of the Philippines in Xiamen, and HQU's President Xu Xipeng were present and granted the school badges to the students. Zeng Lu, Vice-President of HQU presided over the ceremony.

During the one-year study, a small class teaching will be conducted in HQU, with required courses including Chinese listening, speaking and reading to comprehensively improve students’ Chinese proficiency, along with cultural courses and lectures of Chinese traditional music, dance, Wushu, painting, folk artifact art, etc. During the holidays, visits were organized to different places of China to learn about China by themselves.
