Today, to dine in the canteens at Huaqiao University (HQU), you can either pay with the campus card, or scan a QR code on Apps like Bank of China, UnionPay, WeChat and Alipay. Multiple payment options are facilitating campus life.

To build a smart campus, the Department of IT Development and Management has been trying to optimize mobile payment experience, following the trend of third-party payment against the backdrop of e-finance. The school-bank cooperation allows it to attract investment from Bank of China. By integrating multiple mobile payment options, i.e., Bank of China, UnionPay, WeChat and Alipay, the university has achieved a campus card integrated payment solution that can be applied to entry/pass scanning, attendance scanning, library checkout, auto payment/deposit, food and beverage reservation, school bus ticket booking, query and loss registration, etc.

Currently campus canteens accept payments through QR code scanning on Bank of China, UnionPay, WeChat and Alipay. And more features and applications will gradually be available.
