On the morning of June 26^th, 2019, the 8^th Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar co-hosted by Huaqiao University (HQU), National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association (TCCEA) was launched at Xiamen campus of HQU, under the theme "Chinese-Thai Strategic Cooperation for a New Era: New Opportunity and New Vision". Nearly 100 scholars, specialists and government officials from China and Thailand attended the seminar. Focusing on cooperation between the two countries in fields including economy, social culture, science and technology, diplomacy, tourism, agriculture and transportation, they gave their suggestions on further Chinese-Thai cooperation in all aspects in the new era.

Xu Xipeng, President of HQU, Sirirurg Songsivilai, Secretary-General of NRCT, and Karntimon Ruksakiati, Consul General of Royal Thai General Consulate in Xiamen delivered remarks at the opening ceremony presided over by Zeng Lu, Vice-President of HQU.

Ning Fukui, former Chinese ambassador in Thailand, Sompong Sanguanbun, Advisor of Thai-Chinese Strategic Research Center (TCSC) of NRCT and former Thai ambassador, and Lin Hongyu, Dean of College of International Relations of HQU were invited to make keynote speeches.

Delegates from China and Thailand held discussions over six topics, i.e., Economic Cooperation: Investment, Trade, Finance and E-commerce, Socio-cultural Cooperation: Urbanization and Poverty Reduction, S&T Cooperation: Human Capital and Innovation Development, Policy Coordination, Diplomacy and Defense Cooperation, Thai Industries and Chinese-Thai Cooperation and Ethnic Chinese, Migration and Sino-Thai Exchanges.

The annual Chinese-Thai Strategic Research Seminar is a landmark achievement of the comprehensive cooperation between HQU (China), NRCT and TCCEA. From 2012 to 2019, eight consecutive sessions have been successfully held in the two countries, rendering it a high-level platform for exchanges of academia, political circles and think tanks of the two countries. The high-level, large-scale, fruitful seminar has drawn great attention from the two societies.
