On the afternoon of April 24th, Xu Xipeng, President of Huaqiao University (HQU) met with the delegation from Krirk University (KRU), Thailand, led by President Krasae Chanawongse at the Administration Building on Xiamen campus, in the company of Consul General Karntimon Ruksakiati, Deputy Consul General Wanlapa Jitsomboon, and Consul Ropharat Aphijanyatham of Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen.
Xu Xipeng warmly welcomed the delegation's visit and gave a brief introduction of HQU, especially in the cultivation of teachers and students, cooperation in running schools, and the construction of Confucius Institute in cooperation with Thai universities. He pointed out that, under the Belt and Road (the B&R) Initiative, the educational exchanges between China and Thailand have been continuously strengthened, and he hoped that two universities will enhance cooperation in discipline construction and academic research to achieve mutual development.
Krasea Chanawongse thanked HQU for its warm reception and expressed appreciation for the academic reputation and internationalization of HQU. He noted that the universities in Thailand responded positively to China's the B&R initiative, and attached great importance to cooperate and communicate with Chinese universities. He also hoped to take the opportunity to cooperate with HQU in a number of disciplines, and establish a mechanism for student and teacher exchanges and trainings, so as to achieve win-win cooperation.
Zeng Lu, Vice-President of HQU, and leaders from Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, International School, College of International Relations and College of Continuing Studies also attended the meeting.
Founded in 1958, KRU is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the University Alliance of Global Energy Interconnection, with 20 bachelor's, 8 master's and 6 doctoral programs, 123 subdivided training directions in total.
