On April 9^th, 2019, Liu Gong, Vice President of Huaqiao University (HQU) met with the delegation from Indonesia, including Udiansyah Muhammad Kasi, Director of the eleventh section of Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Indonesia, and Liu Jianyuan, CEO and Tan Hui Tiang, Chairman of the Board of Yayasan Pendidikan Harapan Bersama Pontianak (YPHBP), Indonesia, at Wang Yuanxing International Conference Center. Leaders from HQU's Department of Chinese Language and Culture Education also attended the meeting.

HQU has signed the cooperation agreement with YPHBP since 2016, committing itself to the build of Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Harapan Bersama. Both schools have cooperated on training Chinese language teachers, conducting general investigation into the Chinese language education in Indonesia, promoting HQU’s overseas enrollment, etc. In 2018, teachers from HQU were also sent to the school in support of their Chinese language teaching.
