On the afternoon of March 26^th, the 31^st Sound of Spring - the annual series of foreign languages activities - commenced in Zhuang Weixuan Square. Endorsed by Huaqiao University (HQU) and organized by College of Foreign Languages, the event of this year contains 9 sections: English and Japanese Hosting Competitions, English and Japanese Speaking Contests, English and Japanese Sitcom Competitions, English and Japanese Dubbing Competitions, and the English Writing Competition which combines both online and offline access for the first time.

Prof. Mao Haoran, Dean of College of Foreign Languages, addressed the opening ceremony by expressing his wishes and expectations to the current Sound of Spring and affirming the contributions it has made to the construction of campus culture and the student cultivation. By telling a philosophical story, he pointed out that language learners should not only be adept in language proficiency, but also mould themselves into interdisciplinary talents. As Sound of Spring features multimodal innovation and seeks for the improvement of thought, he hoped that students could take an active part in it and reap some harvest.

Cai Liqiang, Vice Director of Department of Student Affairs, praised Sound of Spring for its role as a name card of HQU extra-curricular activities. He also encouraged students to take advantage of this platform to further strengthen their professional competence, enhance practical skills and improve comprehensive quality so as to carry forward excellent traditional Chinese culture and propel the integration of fine Chinese, English and Japanese cultures.

Sound of Spring, as the excellent campus culture, is a name card of HQU’s culture communication. It creates a wonderful environment for language learning, promotes the construction of excellent study atmosphere and contributes to the build of platform for multicultural integration in the university.
