The 2018 Overseas Chinese Language Teachers' Seminar was launched at Xiamen campus of Huaqiao University (HQU) on December 19^th. Nearly 100 overseas Chinese language teachers, from Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Chile, Fiji, Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore and South Africa, gathered under the same roof for the 18-day seminar.

Zeng Lu, HQU Vice President, and Wang Kuangting, Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Education Development Center of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee attended the opening ceremony.

HQU held its first seminar in 2016. Since then, guided by the principle of normalization, standardization and professionalism, the university has been channeling great efforts into the seminars that integrate training, assessment and certification. It will continue to unleash its advantages as a comprehensive university in the training of education personnel in various areas such as language, economics, culture, fine arts and P.E. By doing so, HQU attempts to build a comprehensive system of overseas Chinese language education, maintain the national spirit among overseas Chinese and ensure the continuation and development of the Chinese culture overseas.
