From December1st to December 2nd, Huaqiao University (HQU) attended the Mainland Higher Education Expo 2018, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Education Bureau (EDB) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). This Expo, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai, enabled students aspiring to pursue further studies in the Chinese mainland to gain a better understanding of the Scheme to Exempt Hong Kong Students from the Joint Entrance Examination for Mainland Universities 2019; it also provided information of the participating institutions and their programs.
The participating institutions introduced their schools and disciplines, admission policies, quotas and tuition fees through exhibition booths and briefing sessions. Some Hong Kong students graduated from or still studying in mainland universities shared their educational experience with questioning students, parents and school counselors. Additionally, representatives from the local education and business sectors briefed on the employment prospects of graduates.
Nearly 10,000 attendees visited the Expo which has marked the highest record since its establishment in 2011, reflecting the growing aspiration of Hong Kong students to study in the mainland. HQU booth was among the most popular ones that attracted quite a number of visitors during the Expo.
