HQU in October: Root-Seeking Tour for Overseas Teachers and Students

      This October, Huaqiao University (HQU) has successively organized Autumn Camps and training courses, hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) respectively. As the Chinese language and culture education base of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the key institution of facilitating Chinese teaching in neighboring countries with the support of Hanban, HQU makes unremitting efforts for the promotion of traditional Chinese culture and the prosperity of Chinese language and culture education abroad.

     On October 14th, 43 young Chinese New Zealanders from Auckland International Art & Culture College, New Zealand, received a certificate of completion in HQU upon finishing their Autumn Camp of Root-seeking Tour. 20 teachers and students from Chiang Mai, Thailand, took a 17-day study of the Chinese language and culture in the College of Chinese Language and Culture from October 9th to 24th.

      Sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and China Overseas Exchange Association, the Maritime Silk Road Culture Camp of Root-seeking Tour for overseas Chinese teens 2018 was also held from October 12th to 23rd by HQU. 187 overseas Chinese college students and senior high school students from Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries have participated.

     24 students from the Thidamaepra school in Thailand began their Autumn Camp-Fujian Stop of Root-seeking Tour 2018 on October 15th, experiencing the beauty of Chinese language while learning Chinese culture in HQU.

     20 outstanding students from Bangkok Christian College, attached to Confucius Institute in Kasetsart University, Thailand, have spent 15 days learning Chinese culture in HQU. Some courses were provided for the first time, including Chinese Film Appreciation, Chinese Folk Music and Chinese Traditional Sports. Additionally, various practical courses, like making Gulangyu Islet pie cake and Jiaozi, encourage students to learn outside the classroom.

     In October, the College of Chinese Language and Culture also organized two Chinese language and culture training courses for 26 Chinese language teachers from Myanmar, hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Mandalay, Myanmar.

      Either root seeking in China or attending training or studying Chinese culture, these overseas teachers and students all expressed their gratitude, along with their high praises, to the sponsors of Root-seeking Tour --- Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and China Overseas Exchange Association,and the organizer --- Huaqiao University, for the great benefits they have enjoyed.
