HQU Holds the Fete to Celebrate the National Day

      On September 30th, to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, the Students' Affairs Office of Huaqiao University held a fete at Huayuan Avenue, Quanzhou campus and A-area square, Xiamen campus concurrently. Apart from teachers and students from both home and abroad, the fete has also attracted nearby residents, students from neighboring institutions, and even HQU alumni.

      The fete opened with a 24 Festive Drums performance, followed by a Guzheng solo and a poetry recitation. There were also dance and singing performances, and exciting lucky draws as well.

      Overseas students from Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia, dressed in national costumes, dancing and drumming hilariously to attract the crowd to their food fair. In the glittering lights, those colorful and tempting gourmets including Thai Khao Rat Kaeng (curry-on-rice) and milk tea, Burmese snacks and coconut jelly pudding, and Malaysian deep-fried prawn cakes, sirap bandung and ice-lolly, added more flavor to the exotic atmosphere.

      Aside from traditional lantern riddles, visitors could enjoy themselves through fun games such as blowing table tennis balls, clipping marbles and playing water guns

      In their allocated area, student associations from the two campuses carefully designed a series of traditional culture-themed activities or games with distinctive features. The participants were expected to have fun and learn about the charming traditional Chinese culture as well.

      Overseas students' food fair, fun games arranged by colleges, cultural activities provided by student associations, stand booths for the work-study program, performances, lantern riddles and lucky draws ---the fete was indeed a carnival for all.
