On the afternoon of September 21st, there was an air of joviality in Xiyuan Dining Hall of HQU Quanzhou campus. More than 500 students from many countries and regions, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar, gathered to make mooncakes and celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
Bean paste, taro paste, brown sugar paste and different flavors of fillings were wrapped and sealed with doughs, rolled into balls, pressed into the moulds and finally made into mooncakes with beautiful patterns.
According to the Student Administration Office, this is the first time that such a large number of overseas students get together to make mooncakes. It is a great bonding experience for both students and teachers, and a good chance for overseas students to better understand and experience Chinese culture while enhancing a sense of national identity and pride.
The ready-made mooncakes were baked at the dining hall that day and given back to those students who made them.
